Say before 2003 1000 cars were made but after 2003 900 cars were made.
If in all 1300 cars were sold then it could be that people preferred to buy cars made after 2003.
so 900(manufactured after 2003)+400(manufactured before 2003).
In this case cars manufactured after 2003 were being driven around by max buyers.
