We are looking for an answer which says that the discovery will not help the geologists to evaluate an hypothesis about the state of the Earth's crust at the time these naturally occurring fullerenes were formed. "D" suggests that the naturally occurring Fullerenes are arranged in a previously unknown structure. Hence it is impossible to evaluate an hypothesis from the same.The logic you used in eliminating answers is perfect.
