I would recommend studying the verbal and quant in parallel, perhaps study verbal one day and then quant. I have seen enough of my students, even the really high verbal scorers(95 to 99th%), have their verbal score drop when they exclusively focus on quantitative. This is normal and the only way to counter is to study both of them as you go along.
