The book - Doing Grammar - mentions that "that" can replace who, whom.
Consider the following two sentences:
1. This car is meant for drivers who can drive fast.
2. This car is meant for drivers that can drive fast.
Obviously, 1 makes sense.
But, I want to understandwhy?
How can we sure that "makers" are people notcompanies.
