In the comparison structure "more X than Y", X and Y must be parallel. If "because" is there in element X, it should also be there in element Y.

Following is a simpler example:

I stood first morebecause the competition was weak thanbecause I worked hard .

X =because the competition was weak
Y =because I worked hard
...
