Who can refer to and thus modify ANY noun in a sentence (of course, within the constraints of the rules of noun modifiers), andWhom can also refer to and thus modify ANY noun in a sentence (within the constraints of the rules of noun modifiers).

The difference between Who and Whomlies

  • not in which nouns they canmodify
  • but in what Who and Whom do within their ownclauses
