GMAT Critical Reasoning (CR) | Re: More than 83 people have died from the symptoms of an unknow

I too selected D . I rejected E for the simple reason because it talks about a past unrelated event . They might be talking about a different virus . There is nothing in the option that suggests that they are talking about the same virus .
Someone please clarify
