I am not sure if this helps out your query.
Would is completely hypothetical - We use would when we don't have any past resemblance...ex: if I were you, then I would have done it..
Could is past tense of can - Could refer to the something done in the past... ex: When I was 10, I could climb trees easily.
In GMAT would is always hypothetical
