GMAT Reading Comprehension (RC) | Re: According to a theory advanced by researcher Paul Martin

For Q1,

The passages states that Martin "excluded" the climate change as an explanation.
In my opinion, this DOES NOT mean that he DENIED it.
Can someone please elaborate on this?
