1) They vs it. In the first clause they have used singular verb "Sang" , so the choir is a signular noun.


This is a good thing to look at in general, but unfortunately, it isn't a good clue here. When the verb is in the past tense, there isn't any difference between plural and singular: 'they sang' and 'he sang' are both correct, as are 'they jumped' and 'he jumped', 'they ran' and 'he
