If there are 100 cars and 80 cars are of type A and the rest 10 types sum up to 20 cars , then if a car is stolen at random the probability of a car being stolen of type A will be 0.80, hence the authors line of reasoning is properly established.
The best approach to deal with this problem according to me will be the POE approach..
So IMHO (A) as well...
