Here, we have two bold face portions:

Overall statement:
Marketing advisor believes more variety more shoppers buy => so do this on super market
Practical: more products = difficult to distinguish

So we can clearly see that the first bold face is an explanation for marketing strategy and 2nd one is to undermine it
