Careful, Prajat. You're confusing Assumption with Strengthen. An assumption is anything that NEEDS to be true for the argument to work, so we can't rule out A and B just because they're not strong enough. If what we really want to know is C, then A has to be true as well. Think about it in terms of negation: if there is NO correlation between global warming and sea ice levels, then clearly global warming does NOT melt sea ice, and the argument fails.
As for B, if the ice increase is NOT due to low temperature, then there's no reason to say that global warming hasn't happened. (We are allowed to bring in the outside idea that "global warming" means "an increase in global temperatures.") Therefore, the argument fails again.
But hat tip for the realism--it's hard to find an argument ending in "global warming is a hoax" that only has one flaw.![Image]()
