This is contradicting thepremise:
Guillemots need 80 consecutive snow-free days in a year to raise their chicks, so until average temperatures in the Arctic began to rise recently, the guillemots’ range was limited to the southernmost Arcticcoast.

The premises need to be taken to be true. Hence this option won't makesense. 

I believe that the premise is that" Guillemots need 80 consecutive snow -free days in a year to raise theirchicks ", which the author is using to provide support for his Intermediate conclusion -"[color=#f1c40f] So until average temperatures in the Arctic began to rise recently, he guillemots’ range was limited to the southernmost Arctic
