I am trying to weaken the "marginality hypothesis" in this way. Basically, population increase did not lead to the competition of resources and movement of people to neighboring areas, but the places they had settled in, did not have optimal conditions for plant and animal domestication to begin with. (Population increase is not the reason, "something else (in option C) is"). Hence, C is correct
