­(A) a rosewood sideboard and an oakfootstool
According to the fourth rule, if lrene buys a footstool, she also buys a table made of the same wood. This would result in her buying an oak table which cannot be as her next rule is that she does not buy oaktables.

(B) an oak hutch and a pinesideboard
As Irene purchases a rosewood item, it will have to be a sideboard. She, therefore, cannot buy a pine sideboard as she buys four different types ofitems.

(C) an oak hutch and a mapletable
The rosewood item will be a sideboard, together with an oak hutch and a maple table leaves. This means that the last item must be maple and be either a vanity or a footstool. Both of these items can be maple and will not break any of the rules presented in the questionstem.

(D) a maple sideboard and a maplevanity
[color=#c0392b] This is very similar to choice (B). As she is buying a rosewood item, it will have to be a sideboard and as she purchases different types of items she would not end
