Those who find C as the answer are attributing a statement made by someone as a reflection of ones character/habits...May not be so.
Say, Mr X says, ­“It totally depends on the situation – if one is celebrating birthday, then eating non veg is totally unacceptable.”
Does it mean that Mr X eats non veg as per the occasion. You may never kow, he may be a vegetarian, and he may just be giving his views on a certain issue being discussed.

I would have gone for D for word friend replacing both professional and first timevisits.
But there are issues in D too..
