There are 9 dots on the circle. What is the ratio of number of triangles to the number of pentagons that can be created by connecting the dots?
A. 1:1
B. 1:2
C. 1:3
D. 2:3
E. 1:4

Since none of the points are collinear. For triangle we have to choose \(3\) dots from the \(9\) dots .

This can be done in \({9_C}{_3} \) ways \(= 84\) ways .

For Pentagon we have to choose \(5\) dots from the \(9\) dots.

This can be done in \({9_C}{_5} \) ways \(= 126\) ways.

Required ratio \(= \frac{84}{126} = \frac{2}{3}\)

Ans D

Hope it helped.
