Yeah, I'd be willing to bet that you'll never see this usage of "move" in an official GMAT question. It's not wrong, exactly, but it's somewhat colloquial and pretty unnecessary in most cases.

In this context, it basically means "made a move to do something." So you could say something like "Bear Stearns moved
...
