I don't think D can be the answer to this question. This question is a very simple question as we cannot compare French with Songs. But looks like OA marked has done so. Please provide your inputs. I have provided my reasoning against each option below:
a) Unlike the French, the German art songs are dramatic and sometimes almost operatic --> French cannot be compared to songs.
