AND


'And' connects two or more than two subjects. And compound subjects are always plural. In example below both Xavier and Sarah are subjects. Ex: Xavier and Sarahplay electric guitar.



AS WELL AS

'As Well As' is used as modifier for Sarah. Only Xavier is the subject here.
Ex: Xavier, as well as Sarah,
