GMAT Sentence Correction (SC) | Re: A recent poll of elected officials suggests that candidates,

Hi all,
I can eliminate the wrong answers but I still don't understand why the correct answer is correct.

We can re-write the sentence:
- A recent poll suggests that candidates make statements are true.

I only see idiom with make: make somebody do something
so is that idiom correct in this sentence?
