GMAT Data Sufficiency (DS) | Is 5^k greater than k?

Statement 1: 5 is a positive number and any positive number raised to any power will yield a positive number. Hence 5^k>0 and as pe the statement k<0
so 5^k>k. sufficient

Statement 2: 5^k <1. this implies 5^k<5^0
or k<0 but 5^k cannot be negative. so 5^k>k. Sufficient
