I think B is the answer
A - fell by ......down to is redundant. fell and down are used in the same sentence
B - seems ok
C - fell by ......down to is redundant. fell and down are used in the same sentence
D - to it nadir, it is incorrect
E - unnecessary twist to sentence. B is more clear and precise compared to E
