In the question it is no where mentioned what is the shape of the bucket, but as per the solution it is assumed that it is cylindrical and a linear function is assumed to solve the problem.
Whereas when I solved the problem I considered 2 cases. Case 1 - that it is cylindrical similar to the solution given in the book. Case 2 - it can be conical, in that case it will not be a linear function so the answer should be option E whereas as per OG it
