Many people say that A is wrong because of erroneous comparison (cars are being compared to time). But I beg to disagree. A is wrong for other reasons, but erroneous comparison is not one of them. I think in A, "now" (time) is being compared to "in any time in production history" (time).
Consider: The job market is more competitive now than any time in the past decade. --> in this sentence, would you say there is erroneous comparison between job market and time? No!
