GMAT Reading Comprehension (RC) | Re: The student of mythology must embrace the contradiction

Are questions like this common on the actual test? I got this one as well on my Kaplan practice test this weekend and it really slowed me down. I feel like in the interest of time, questions like these should be just skipped, no?
