The question only says that it is "often" true that bad climate changes affect large animals worse than small ones. So an answer like C is out, because it changes that meaning from "often" to "always". The question also doesn't compare food availability or consumption with other factors that might lead to extinction, which rules out the other answer choices, besides E, which can't be right; the stem doesn't tell us that small species survive any time large ones die
