Going by this explanation, option A and option D are alike. If we give reason other than those stated in the passage the option will weaken the passage. However, option D also gives "many reason" i.e. it is saying other than the reasons stated by the author there are many other reasons. Thus it should be weakener.

Please throw some light on this.
