I don't agree that (A) is a necessary assumption. Even if the new rose did produce the onion' tearing effect, perhaps customers were ready to bear this inconvenience as long as it lasts longer. For (A) to be true we have to go further and assume (without warrant) that the benefits of the new rose (longer shelf life) does not outweigh the cons (onion tearing effect). On what basis can we assume this?
