Sentence Correction (SC) | QOTD: As criminal activity on the Internet becomes more and more

I understand why option D is wrong due to parallelism. But what about the idiomatic structure in A? is it valid to say "not only...." and than do not follow the idiomatic structure ("not only...but also" or "not only....but)?
