A.Correct.Sentence talks about works which interests general readership.

B. Readers and readership are two diff entities.Shouldnt be juxtaposed

C talks about what interests reader generally. This deviates from actual statement which talks about works for general readership

D sentence doesnt deal with readers

E interest is not general. Readership is.
