Stmt 1 x-y=-(x+|y|)
Given y is positive , so x-y= -(x+y)
so x-y= -x-y
which implies x=0; Definite Answer so Sufficient.

Stmnt gives x=y-3. Since we only know y is +ve and no definite value of y, Insufficient.
