I want to bump this for discussion. I chose D, and even after reading the explanations above I am still not convinced it is A.
If we consider D, predation and starvation could affect population size. So when it says habitat has not shrunk, that means another cause is to blame. Are we not supposed to consider outside information in this case? My understanding is that we can on S/W questions.
