The answer should be D as follows.

The two sides given are x and 3x-1.
since the figure is a squire, both the sides should be equal in length ==> x=3x-1 ==>2x=1 ==>\(x=\frac{1}{2}\) Area of the squire =\(side^2\) ==>\(x^2\) ==>\((\frac{1}{2})^2\) ==>\( \frac{1}{4} \)
