If the length and width of rectangle A are 10 percent less and 30 percent less respectively than the length and width of rectangle B, the area of A is equal to what percent of the area of B?

(A) 63%
(B) 60%
(C) 40%
(D) 6%
(E) 3%

As nothing is mentioned about the sides we can assume that length and breadth of the rectangle B be\(100\) &\(100\) respectively

so rectangle A's length and breadth will be\(90\) &\(70\)

Hence % area of A\( =(\frac{90*70}{100*100} )*100 = 63% \)
