Which of the following, if true, most helps to confirm the explanation above?

This appears in OG 2018 verbal review, it really catches my off guard. "confirm explanation" = strengthen, or an evidence. Nevertheless, I just thought it is a normal explanation question.

My question is how to deal with such abnormal questions in gmat?
