I am a bit confused here with the structure; I thought that " a trend begun ...and continuing" is not a parallel structure, this is why I preferred the options ending with "it is" ...I'd appreciate if you can shed some light on this part

P.S. I have revised all the basics of the grammar, am I missing any rules that I should be looking up or revise
