'Although' can appear in the beginning, in the middle or at the end of a clause.

I. When it appears at the beginning of a sentence, it can either be a subordinate clause with a verb or just a modifier without a verb.

GMAT examples

Although the term "psychopath" is popularly applied to an especially brutal criminal, in psychologyit is someone who is apparently incapable of feeling compassion or the pangs of conscience.
