Hi hazelnut, the thing is thathave / has / had can be used asverbs , depicting the meaning ofpossession .

For example:

I have a car.
This sentence is insimple present . The presence ofhave in this sentence does not make this sentencepresent perfect . Here,have is used as a verb denotingpossession (I possess a car).

The corresponding simple past
